The Core Trimmer and Cut-Off Machine is designed to prepare precisely machined rock samples, including cubes and prisms, from irregular rock pieces or cores. This machine ensures accurate and smooth cutting for rock mechanics applications.
The model 70-0251/01 comes equipped with a vice that securely holds irregular pieces up to approximately 70 x 140 mm. For core cutting, a secondary V-shaped vice accommodates cores up to 75 mm in diameter and 140 mm in height. For longer cores, the samples can be inverted in the vice to achieve the desired length.
This machine is also equipped with a cooling water inlet and a transparent safety cover that meets CE standards. The cover includes an automatic shut-off switch when opened, enhancing operator safety.
It comes complete with a cooling/circulation pump, a diamond abrasive cutting blade, and a double-faced cup wheel for efficient sample preparation.
This equipment is designed to evaluate the durability of rock samples by simulating the effects of climatic slaking, assessing the material’s resistance to weakening and disintegration.
During the test, rock samples are dried and then subjected to wear stress inside a rotating drum filled with water. The process is repeated, and the durability is measured by the weight loss of the samples after each cycle.
The system features a motorized drive unit mounted on a sturdy baseplate, capable of rotating two (or up to four) stainless steel drums. These drums are made from 2 mm mesh, with dimensions of 140 mm in diameter and 100 mm in length. The water level in the tanks is maintained 20 mm below the drum axis for consistent testing conditions.
A digital timer is integrated into the system to automatically stop the motor once the pre-set testing time has elapsed. The equipment is supplied with two drums and their corresponding tanks.
Designed for precise and reliable testing, the High Stability Load Frame ensures calibration accuracy in compliance with BS EN ISO 7500-1 and ASTM E4 standards.
Equipped with the advanced ADR Touch Microprocessor System, this machine minimizes the need for extensive data entry during standard testing procedures. It is specially adapted for use with ELE-Hoek Triaxial Cells, featuring fixed upper and lower platens with precise locations to centralize the triaxial cell assembly, ensuring maximum stability during testing.
