Digital Point Load Test Apparatus (77-0115)

Originally developed at Imperial College, London, the Point Load Testing Apparatus features a robust two-column fixed crosshead frame paired with a hand-operated hydraulic jack. The pressure applied by the jack extends the piston, which carries the lower conical point. The upper conical point is fixed to the crosshead, with a scale mounted on the frame to provide accurate specimen diameter information for point-load strength index calculations.

The applied pressure is displayed directly on the digital readout unit, allowing for precise measurements. This apparatus can apply loads of up to 55 kN to specimens with diameters reaching 101.6 mm.

The equipment is supplied complete with a heavy-duty face mask for safety.

Rock Shear Box Apparatus (77-1040)

This apparatus is designed to evaluate the strength and slope stability of rock specimens, with a maximum size of 115 x 125 mm or cores with a maximum diameter of 102 mm, applicable in both field and laboratory settings.

The system includes two horizontal rams for shear testing in two directions, a vertical loading ram, and two 150 mm diameter Bourdon tube load gauges equipped with quick-release couplings. The load gauges are calibrated for 50 kN with 1 kN divisions. Additionally, the apparatus comes with two hand pumps featuring hydraulic connections and a dial gauge (25 x 0.01 mm) for precise measurements.
